The honey bee is in danger! Please take a moment to read this email to by the Ontario's Beekeeper Association.
=======================================================================
Dear Supporter,
Thanks to you and thousands of others, the petition to ban neonicotinoid pesticides in Ontario has over 40,000 signatures! We’ve surpassed our goal, but let’s not stop here – we’re making significant progress toward protecting the future of pollinators and other wildlife. If each of us gets one more person to sign the petition we could pass 50,000 this week before we submit it to Premier Wynne.
In addition to supporting our efforts toward a ban in Ontario, here’s an opportunity for impact at the federal level: The Pest Management Regulatory Agency, the Federal body responsible for pesticide regulation and compliance in Canada, has issued a Call for Comments to their plans to protect bees from exposure to neonicotinoids. In their report (found here: http://bit.ly/15YVdoS ), they acknowledge that the majority of examined pollinator mortalities were a result of exposure to neonicotinoid insecticides and “that current agricultural practices related to the use of neonicotinoid treated corn and soybean seed are not sustainable”.
They suggest a number of protective measures, but not a ban as yet. They need to hear from you! In addition to your own concerns, you can tell the PMRA that continued use of neonicotinoid pesticides poses an unacceptable likelihood of serious harm to honey bees and native pollinators and reduces pollination of wild plants in a way that may alter ecosystems. Tell them you are concerned about toxic build up in water and soil. Tell them you want these toxic chemicals removed from use before the 2014 planting season.
Here is the email link for comments: pmra.publications@hc-sc.gc.ca. You will need to provide your name, phone number and email address along with your comments.
Let’s make sure they don’t just hear from those with vested interests in pesticides, because, make no mistake, those who are against the ban are out in full force, using every means available to prevent or delay change. They have the resources, but we have the passion, the science and the support of thousands like you. Ontario’s beekeepers will never give up pressing for change and we hope you won’t either. Thank you again for your support.

Tell Governor Brown to Save Bobcats
Let us put an end to the killing of Bobcats. Why are they being killed you ask? For their fur. This absolutely disgusts me. If people where killing people to "wear" their skin, everyone would think this person was mentally ill. So what is the difference? Why is it okay for humans to kill animals for their body parts.
Let's get together and put an end to this. SIGN HERE
Overview of petition:
Currently, trappers can kill unlimited numbers of bobcats in California between November and January -- all for the commercial fur trade, where beautiful bobcat fur gets snatched up in places like China and Russia. Bobcat trapping is even legal along the borders of national parks and other protected areas.
This commercial trapping is not only inhumane; it also hurts California's beautiful and ecologically important wild places.
But there's hope for our bobcats: Assembly Bill 1213, known as the Bobcat Protection Act of 2013, would limit commercial trapping of bobcats in California. It includes an immediate prohibition of bobcat trapping around Joshua Tree National Park and directs the California Fish and Game Commission to institute further protections.
A.B. 1213 has already passed the California legislature -- it's up to Governor Brown's to sign this bill into law. Please take action now and call on the governor to protect California's bobcats and sign A.B. 1213

Alabama: Don't Ban Rehab of Injured and Orphaned Wildlife
If we human beings choose to stop assisting injured animals then who will help them? This is outrageous! Sign this petition to help urge Alabama to stop this ban.
At the end of August, the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources sent a letter to wildlife rehabilitation facilities and individual rehabilitators that it would no longer be issuing permits for foxes, skunks, bats, coyotes, opossums, raccoons or wild pigs.
The department is instructing anyone who finds an injured or orphaned animal to either leave them where they are or bring them somewhere to be immediately euthanized. Rehabbers have been instructed to turn people away or take in animals and euthanize them.
By the department's logic, there's no reason to save individual animals of species who aren't considered threatened or endangered.
There may not be a biological reason to save these creatures, but there's certainly a moral one. Especially for those who end up needing help because of human activities, like a mother being accidentally hit by a car, or intentionally killed, or an infant being injured by a domestic pet.
Compassionate actions shouldn't be criminalized. Please stand with wildlife lovers who are opposing this decision and ask the department to overturn this rule.

SIGN THE PETITION! STOP MASS KILLING OF ROMANIAN DOGS
Everyone, please, we need your help! Take a moment to sign this petition to stop the slaughter of Romanian dogs. CLICK HERE!!
Overview of the petition:
Three Million stray dogs in Romanian dogs face death as a form of population control while it is more humane, and economically logical, to spay and neuter the animals.
One unspayed female dog, her mate and their offspring can produce up to 67,000 dogs in only 6 years.
The price to spay one female dog certianly outweighs the price to hired a dog-catcher to catch 67,000, and euthanize them.
We ask Romania to find humane and economically sound solutions and stop the senseless mass killing of dogs.

We Need Stricter Laws and Punishment for Teens that Placed Kitten in Microwave as a prank
WARNING: This story is beyond disturbing but requires your action to prevent madness like this from happening!
Kids are continually abusing animals for “fun” and this has got to STOP!! Just recently a couple of teen girls in Maine had nothing fun to do. They took a sweet and innocent 8-week old kitten, placed it in the microwave oven and turn it on!!!!!!!! How can anyone look at such a sweet being and purposely try to destroy it when all it wants to do is love you, life and just live as it was meant to do? Where are kids leaning how to be so mean and cruel if it is not in their own homes, schools and among their peers.
These disturbed young girls who actually live in South Portland thought they would make a “cute” but disturbing video and share it on Twitter. This how they got caught for their appalling and abusive behavior. The South Portland police were alerted and began an investigation when numerous tips came in regarding this devastating twitter post.
The video shows one girl places the cat in the microwave, closes the door and appears to turn it on before shooting the film. Police aren't sure how long the oven was on. The other girl then removes the kitten that is estimated to be about 8 weeks old.
When the girls were found through all the tips, they are faced with animal cruelty charges and issued summons to face the punishment for the crime. It turns out these girls are 15 year-old South Portland High School students who are not named because of their ages. Obviously punishment is not severe enough and kids are not raised to have love, compassion and respect for all living beings or such acts of animal cruelty and abuse would not continue, especially among such young people who are not born with these horrific types of behavior.
The good news is that the kitty was rescued and is currently up for adoption at the local no-kill shelter.
We have got to teach our children! They are not born with the instinct to hurt, kill and abuse!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To stop any further animal cruelty please, I urge you to sign this petition! Click HERE
Demand China to Get Rid of Live Crab Vending Machines
This is so inhumane. I do not understand the logic behind some of the things I come across. Why would anyone in their right mind think that live crab should be placed in a vending machine for purchase? Not only are they pulled from their natural habitat but now they have to spend out the last days of their lives in a machine, waiting for someone to purchase them to eat. To end this madness, please sign this petition HERE!
Overview of Petition:
As much as anyone loves to dine on seafood, this seems to be so inhumane! Yet, vending machines containing LIVE crabs are stuffed full for a constant sell from August through October. These are live beings that are cramped together in a container and stuffed in a machine for profit. They may look as though they are sleeping; what else can they do.
The vending machines are located in Hangzhou in China. Mr. Liu is the vending machines owner who is attempting this absurd venture in hopes of capturing after-hour demands for the crustacean. This just seems like such a cruel and inhumane way for the crabs to exist until they make it to the dinner table!!
It is true that the machines are kept cool, around 5-10° C to keep the crabs preserved. According to the original creator of this vending machine, Mr. Shi, they built a multi-tiered box designed to make crabs feel like they’re in a cave. As a result, this turned out to be more of a marketing stunt with people ogling at the crabs rather than buying them, creating a high mortality rate for these poor defenseless creatures. It is just a ploy to promote the “shop next door” and crab sales without regard to the animals suffering within this machine.
The full story can be found at http://qz.com/123779/one-more-way-china-is-out-innovating-the-us-with-a-vending-machine-full-of-live-crabs/
This Mr. Liu is not only employing these powerless creatures for his personal gain, he is also utilizing some illegal practices and sells inferior crabs for personal gain. Mr. Liu is an animal abuser and a crook!!! Such practices must stop.

Save Bengal Tigers from Electrocution
This personally has to be one of the most disturbing things I have ever read and came across. I encourage everyone to please sign this petition! Click HERE to sign today. Please be sure to share this unfortunate act of animal cruelty with others. Together we can make a difference. If we do not speak up, who will for these innocent animals?
Overview of Petition:
Four tigers have been killed by electrocution since November 2012; three of them in the forests of the Katni district in India.
In one death, the tigress was electrocuted after it came in contact with live electric line connected to an 11-KV high-tension line, connected to a pole that was only 8 feet tall instead of 27 feet. The electricity department re-erected a pole from its broken end instead of replacing it with a new one.Wildlife officials believe that electricity has spread to rural areas without any supervision electric companies, and poachers are using homemade electrocution tripwires made from power lines. 61 elephants have been poached this way.
Section 149 of Electricity Act 2003, reads "Where an offence under this Act has been committed by a company, every person who at the time of offence committed was in charge of and was responsible to the company for the conduct of the business of the company, as well as the company shall be deemed to be guilty of having committed the offence and shall be liable to be proceeded against and punished accordingly."We ask that the electric comany be held responsible for the deaths of endangered tigers. They have been long aware, and neglected several remedies, including building taller, more insulated power lines, to help ensure the safety of wildlife.

Illegal trafficking of two critically endangered tortoise species from Madagascar has reached epidemic proportions, according to the Wildlife Conservation Society, Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, Turtle Survival Alliance, Madagascar Biodiversity Partnership, Turtle Conservancy, Conservation International, World Wildlife Fund and other groups who urge authorities to clamp down on wildlife smuggling before some species are collected out of existence.
According to the groups, more than 1,000 radiated and ploughshare tortoises have been confiscated from smugglers in the first three months of 2013 alone. In late March, 54 ploughshare tortoises made it as far as Thailand before being seized by authorities. A recent report by TRAFFIC states that the radiated tortoise is now the most common tortoise for sale in Bangkok's infamous Chatuchak wildlife market.
The groups say that since the beginning of Madagascar's continuing political crisis in 2009, smuggling has increased by at least ten-fold due to weak governance and rule-of-law. In addition, erosion of cultural protection of the tortoises for short term monetary gain has contributed to their sharp decline. In the past, tortoises were protected by "fady" -- a local belief that harming the tortoises is taboo. However, with years of drought and increasing levels of poverty, people from regions outside the tortoise's natural range, who do not practice these types of fady, are capturing and illegally selling tortoises.
"These tortoises are truly one of Madagascar's most iconic species," said James Deutsch, WCS Executive Director for Africa Programs. "This level of exploitation is unsustainable. Unless immediate action is taken to better protect the wild populations, their extinction is imminent."
The Wildlife Conservation Society and its conservation partners are urging Malagasy officials to take a hard stand against illegal trafficking and increase the number of guards in remote areas to the north where the tortoises remain. This, coupled with public education efforts and better enforcement in import countries such as Thailand, will help take pressure off these critically endangered reptiles. Meanwhile, the Turtle Conservancy and Turtle Survival Alliance have been able to import a small number of animals seized from the illegal trade into the U.S. for the foundation of an assurance colony.
Eric Goode, Founder of the Turtle Conservancy, said: "While the seizure in Thailand was the largest single seizure of ploughshare tortoises in history, the TC has documented over 250 Ploughshares in the trade in East and Southeast Asia. According to INTERPOL, only 10 percent of smuggled wildlife is actually seized, suggesting that over 2000 animals have entered the illegal trade into Asia alone. If trade level persists, it will likely lead this species to extinction."

Product Review
Chewmaster Chicken Jerky
This has to be my dogs favourite kind of chicken strip!
This product is high in protein, made from 100% real premium chicken, and has no preservatives, additives or colouring. The price for this is very reasonable. I purchase it from my local Costco so I buy this product in bulk. A 2.5 lb bag costs $12.99. Between to large dogs, this bag will last in my home for approximately 2-3 weeks.
The only thing I would caution is to supervise when feeding your dog this product. I have been buying this product for over 5 years and in that time, only once, the strip was stuck at the bridge of one of my dogs mouth. I had to physically pull it out. When that happened, I was a little apprehensive to feed it to her again but i found that giving her a smaller portion as oppose to one large strip helped resolve this from happening again.

Biodegradable Dog Poop Bags
My Review:
I have to say as an owner of two large dogs I swear by these bags! Not only are they environmentally friendly, they are a great product to use. what's great is that these bags do not rip easily. I have used generic brands where the bag rips as I am opening it to pick up poop. Not fun! This bag is very durable.
This size of the bag is amazing as well. They remind me of little grocery shopping bags. They are large enough to fit your hand in and pick up whatever you need without it getting all over your hands.
Another great feature is that it has actual handles on it. It is not just a straight bag, the handles allow you to easily tie it once it is used.
And just to make this bag from great to amazing, it is biodegradable!
Overall, my score for this product is a 5/5

Holistic Dog Treats
I am excited to announce that I have launched a brand of holistic and organic dog treats!
As a dog owner myself, it is important to me that my animals are not consuming all the animal bi-products and corn meal that seems to over power their food and treats. These big box companies seem to be focusing on ways to cut costs to the productions of their products instead of using real ingredients that will benefit our animals, not cause them health issues in the long run.
As an owner, I would rather pay a few dollars more knowing that I am supporting a company that provides a product that actually benefits my pets.
I have done a lot of experimenting with holistic and organic dog treats and I am proud to announce that through all my research I am launching Bubbles & Company Gourmet Dog Treats!
If you are looking for a treat that actually has health benefits for your canine then I invite you to try these treats!
These treats are also great for dogs that suffer from diabetes and have sensitive stomach issues. We are excited to offer 5 greats flavours, Sweet potato chicken bites, Peanut butter and banana biscuits, Pumpkin dog biscuits, Bubbles favourite and Flaxseed dog treats!
To learn more about each treat please visit our online store at www.bubblesgourmetdogtreats.com

The St. Louis Zoo is now the proud owner of a brand new baby elephant!!
This cutie baby girl was born to Ellie, a 42-year-old Asian Elephant.
The calf is approximately 38 inches tall and weighs 251lbs.
The curator of mammals at the zoo said:
"The baby appears healthy and is already walking around well. As an experienced mother and grandmother, Ellie was very nurturing, caring for her newborn baby from the very beginning. She did a great job."
What a blessing!!
Because Asian elephants are endangered, every newborn is a gift!! Congrats, mama Ellie!

Animal of the Day: Elephant
The elephant is gentle by heart but has an amazing memory. When the elephants trunk is facing upwards, it is happy. Just like when a dog wags his tail. The elephant is becoming endangered. Poachers slaughter these friendly giants for their tusks. How any human being can bring harm to an innocent animal, I will never be able to comprehend that.

Rhinoceros
The rhino is a magnificent animal. An animal that has been around for a very long time. However, the rhino is in jeopardy of becoming extinct all because poachers kill them for their horn.
I found a petition that can be signed for a very sad and unfortunate situation that took place at one of India's national parks. Poachers actually fought with park rangers for hours before killing a rhinoceros.

I erge everyone to help put a stop to this and sign the petition. We have the voice to make a change, so let us use it!

I am all about using natural products when it comes to animals and myself! I found this homemade shampoo recipe for animals which will get rid of fleas!
All Natural Shampoo to Get Rid of Fleas
Ingredients:
1 cup liquid dish soap, i prefer Dawn
1 cup white vinegar
1 cup warm water
Directions: 1.Mix the three ingredients in a large bowl and then transfer to a leftover squeeze bottle (like an old shampoo bottle). Give it a little shake to make sure it is mixed. 2.Apply to your doggy just as you would normal shampoo. It is best if you can massage it into the fur and let sit for 5 minutes. My dog did not mind as long as I kept massaging the shampoo around. 3.Rinse your doggy thoroughly with warm water. Towel dry.

the barbaric practice of bile farming. Battered and broken from their time on
an illegal bear farm, these bears are already starting to mend under the expert
care of Animals Asia's dedicated vet team.
And
while the nightmare is over for these six bears, across China more than 10,000
moon bears remain in tiny cages never feeling the sun on their backs or grass
under their feet.
They can be kept like this for up to 30 years. This cruel practice continues
despite the availability of many effective and affordable alternatives.
Animals
Asia applauds the Chinese Government for rescuing these six bears and closing
the illegal farm, but the suffering of 10,000 must be made a priority and a
firm date set when bear farming will end!
